Be the Buffalo
Did you know about the buffalo?
In a rain or snow storm, cows run away from the storm (the same direction as the storm is heading), thus maximizing the total time spent in the storm, while the buffalo charges towards it, minimizing the time and effect of the storm. What about you, are you more like the cow or buffalo? When you are confronted with a challenge, what do you do?
Let’s be real. You’re likely confronted with a few challenges already today… What is your specific challenge?
Is it a team member who showed up late again or a team member who is present but disengaged? You may have had a great patient call in and quit over the weekend? Maybe a bad review on Google or Facebook? Maybe you had to issue a refund? Maybe the marketing event you were relying on did not produce the ROI you wanted and needed? Maybe your summer schedule has been a little slower than usual, new patients, visits and collections are down, despite your great intentions and efforts…?
I am not being negative, I am being real.
Can you relate with any of these? What is your challenge???
AND, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO TODAY?!
The MINDSET Adjustment is simple: Choose to see every CHALLENGE as your next great OPPORTUNITY!
That’s it.
Now, do this repeatedly, and watch how your energy shifts, your behaviors shift and how your outcomes dramatically improve.
BE THE BUFFALO, charge enthusiastically toward you current or next challenge.
What happens when we act like the cow and try to run from (avoid, push off, delegate, ignore or run from) is we maximize the amount of time we will spend in the storm/challenge.
When a buffalo sees a storm coming across the plain, it charges towards it, effectively minimizing the total time spent in the storm and expediting the time for enjoying the calm after the storm!
Life and practice are full of storms and challenges. Trying to insulate ourselves from challenges is unrealistic, especially when you are in the business of saving lives and changing the world! The winning mindset and strategy we get to embrace is to recognize that every challenge we face is actually our next great opportunity. The storm is a step, a path to our next great opportunity.
BE THE BUFFALO, charge enthusiastically toward you current or next challenge.
